expanding your parental toolbox to include leadership and advocacy skills. The Parent
Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) trains, inspires and empowers parents to become
effective advocates for children. To learn more about this dynamic program, please join us
on Friday, November 21st from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Charter Oak's Family Resource Center.

Parent conferences will be held in the cafeteria, portables, AG and HG wings on:

Wednesday, November 18th from from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm 
Thursday, November 19th  from 7:30 am - 9:30 am

IMPORTANT:  From November 9th - 13th, students will bring conference request forms to teachers for scheduling.  Students are not permitted to sign-up for conferences prior to November 9th.

Parents are encouraged to use Power School to familiarize themselves with their student’s grades prior to scheduling/attending a conference.

Saturday, November 7: Join us for the One Book, One Town Kick-off that is designed to bring the community together by reading a common book which will stimulate conversations around its core theme.

West Hartford is launching a new initiative called ONE BOOK, ONE TOWN.

The Town of West Hartford, West Hartford Public Libraries, West Hartford Public Schools, the Noah Webster House, the West Hartford Human Rights Commission, Starwood Retail and Barnes & Noble have joined forces for this first annual event.

One Book, One Town is designed to bring the community together by reading a common book which will stimulate conversations around its core theme.

The book title is being kept a secret until the kick-off on November 7th at which time the official unveiling will occur.

Paying for college can easily be one of your lifetime's biggest expenses.  To help parents better understand their college funding options, the WHPS School Counseling Department is sponsoring a seminar titled "How to Pay for College" on Wednesday evening, November 11th at 7 p.m. in the Conard High School auditorium. Mr. Charles Wareham of Valark Financial will describe how the financial aid system works, help identify college funding options, and discuss strategies that can be used to help make college more affordable.  We invite parents of all students grades 9-12 to join us for this informative program.

A Very Special Invitation!

Attention all sophomore and junior girls. You are invited to participate in the 2nd Annual Career Inspiration Program for Young Women. This is a special event designed to enable you to hear and interact with successful, professional women in a variety of careers who will share their own personal career journey.

There will also be interactive workshops conducted by young, professional women to empower you with the skills (Personal Branding, Soft Skills, and Negotiation Skills) necessary for success in your own path to college and career. Reviews from the young women who attended last year overwhelming asked that we bring back the program to Hall this year!

Attendance is free but limited to the first 100 young women to register for the event. See Mrs. Taft (Room E125) or Mrs. Dailey (Room E123) to register. Lunch will be provided.

Please register by Wednesday, November 11th with Mrs.Taft or Mrs. Dailey.

Monthly Assistant Principal Award

Rationale: To celebrate those students who embody Hall’s core values and beliefs by demonstrating exemplary character, love of learning, school involvement, community commitment, and a drive to meet challenges.

Criteria: Students nominated have shown outstanding growth/contribution to the school, community, or self by exhibiting one or more of the following:
1. exemplary habits of mind.
2. independent and innovative academic curiosity and/or achievement.
3. outstanding compassion and/or community engagement/service.
4. significant growth and development.

Process:
1. Email sent to faculty with nominating form (to be completed by the last day of each month).
2. Three students will be selected by committee (3 APs).
3. Announcement will be made on the first Friday of each month.

Recognition:
1. Certificate of Commendation
2. Honor Flag
3. Names and photograph to appear on school website, newspaper, and Principal’s Tweet.
4. Photograph displayed on Main Office Bulletin Board
5. Breakfast on morning of announcement with Assistant Principals, honored students, and students’ guests (each student can bring a Hall High peer).

Hall's Robotics Team wins "Design Award!"

This past Saturday, November 14, 2015, the team competed in their first competition of the season at South Windsor High School (
here's a link to the results for the day). They had a few unlucky bounces so to speak during qualifying and only managed to finish 36th of 38 total teams with a record of 1 win and 4 losses. The day didn't end there however, as the team's design and potential did not go unnoticed by their peers. Hall Robotics was drafted by the 5th seed for a finals alliance. The alliance did not advance during the finals unfortunately, but they did not return home empty handed. More importantly the team's efforts on their Engineering Design Notebook was recognized by the judges and they received the Design Award:
