Hall High Girls in STEM Club is running this fundraiser to connect our club to the global women in STEM population and to improve our club. Half of all profits will be used for our club to hire speakers, bring STEM lessons to elementary schools, and serve the community in many more ways. In addition, 50% of profits earned will be donated to the Association for Women in Science (AWIS). AWIS "advocates for policy change at the local and national level to ensure fair pay and work climate" in STEM careers.(www.awis.org). In addition, they offer leadership development training for women and research to eliminate barriers so that more women can enter STEM fields. Please see www.awis.org for more information.
According to the National Girls Collaborative Project women only make up about 29% of STEM careers. Our club aims to change this by empowering girls at Hall High School to enter STEM fields, and with money raised through shirt sales we can better serve our community and hire preeminent speakers to share their stories with club members.
